Summer Newsletter: New approach, new feature, new face
VIDEO SOLUTIONS 🎥
For many of you, this is the season for all-hands meetings, company-wide social events, and important professional conferences.
You have your presentation in order, but have you mapped out all the mileage those events can give you in terms of video? One day of event footage can give you a year of video assets - when you plan it right.
Blue Cross of NC worked with us to capture more than enough great footage in one day at their Spring Fling to fuel their video strategy for four of their ongoing initiatives. And it was seamless.
We’re eager to lift up this truly efficient approach because – in these remote-work days – when else do you have everyone in one place at the same time and camera ready? The Christmas party. And that’s no time to be recording.
VIDEO TRENDS 📈
Earlier this year Tiktok announced that it would lengthen the maximum time for video uploads to 10 minutes. And that had a lot of people scratching their heads.
Because, meanwhile, the established video behemoths of Youtube, Instagram, and Snapchat have all been trying to capture Tiktok’s short-form video magic; introducing Shorts, Reels, and Spotlights, respectively.
What does this content length dust up mean for you in the short term? Here are 3 takeaways:
Keep front loading your value proposition, keep your videos captioned and viable at double speed, and keep experimenting to find the video length sweet spot for your audience.
Now Tiktok can be a great space to test out different longer-form video content ideas before bringing the winners to your more prominent social media channels.
But avoid building a social channel ghost town. Does it hurt to have a low-key foundation on Tiktok that reflects what you’re already doing on other channels? It doesn’t. So long as your audience is there too and you’ve got bandwidth to be responsive on that account too.
And as always, if you want a hand making your footage social-ready, we’re here to help!
VIDEO SUPPORT 💪
Good news everyone! There’s a new videographer on the team and he’s ready to help out on your next project. Meet Jarrett Swearingen.
Jarrett hails from Atlantic Beach, NC and brings with him a whole host of experience and skills.
He’s previously worked on studio productions, documentaries, and short films, and has expertise in cinematography, color grading, and screenwriting. He can even say the alphabet backward, no joke.
Jarret’s a natural fit at The Grid because he’s also a big advocate of creating high-quality (yet affordable) videos so businesses can promote themselves without restraints. He ultimately wants to bring the narrative structure and aesthetic you’d typically find in larger productions to more small-budget, local shoots.
“I think that’s the future of advertising and I’m excited to find a way to make that available to everyone,” he says. And we’re excited to see all he’ll do too!
