Blue Cross NC Strengthens Four Initiatives with One Shoot Day at One Event

BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina knows that one of its biggest strengths is its company culture. It’s something they strive to cultivate through multiple initiatives and showcase across both internal and external channels. 

So when their Spring Fling employee event rolled around after a two-year hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, they took it as an opportunity to exceed their employee’s expectations, create a memorable experience, and document it all in a series of videos. 

To help them capture this important event and the vibrant culture behind it, we aimed to gather a strategic and wide array of footage: interviews, timelapse, drone, event b-roll, behind the scenes, and more. 

In one day, Blue Cross NC got 15 principal interviews and more candid interviews of employees enjoying the fun, hours of energetic and immersive shots of activities, and great footage of their headlining initiatives for the day.   

This diverse range of event footage translated into multiple assets. With just one day of shooting, Blue Cross NC got more than one event video that commemorates their company culture at that moment. They also got interviews that highlighted their Go-Green, USO Bike Build, and new Hybrid Flex Workplace initiatives.

And for them, showcasing these initiatives is key to strengthening their employee community and recruiting new top talent to Blue Cross NC – so they can keep working toward their mission with the best people.

  • In planning, we created a detailed but flexible prioritized shot list. This allowed us to methodically capture a diversity of footage in one shoot day that would be used in multiple videos. 

  • We used two teams to film the event. One team focused on longer scheduled interviews while the other documented the many event activities and short sound-bite interviews. 

  • To help the scheduled interviews run smoothly, we worked with Blue Cross NC to select interviewees and send the questions ahead of time so interviewees were familiar with the content of their interview before going on camera at the event.
