Dynamic Blend of Video Tools Brings New Catalyst BioCampus to Life
Video objectives
Visualize the campus and the possibilities of its modular facilities with 3D model animation
Act as both sales and marketing collateral for two audiences, buyers and potential investors
The new concept and impressive facilities of Catalyst Biocampus would be the first development of its kind in the greater Raleigh area. And as such, the brains behind this new biopharmaceutical manufacturing solution - Apollo and GeneSuites - wanted a compelling way to present their innovation to their target audiences.
Video was the natural choice for showcasing Catalyst Biocampus to both buyers and potential investors. However, to truly capture the vision for the space and invite viewers to co-create that vision too, the video would need to use an array of visual storytelling tactics.
To help Apollo and GeneSuites communicate and visualize the possibilities of their high-performance shell solution, we aimed to use a dynamic combination of video tools to bring the space to life for viewers.
Because the campus is incomplete until tenants build it out to their needs, we used 3D animations to visualize the Biocampus concept and show those prospective tenants what is possible. 3D modeling and animation were the key to not just presenting the facilities but also allowing viewers to really see the potential of the solution for their purposes.
In addition, the video used motion graphic maps, overlays, and kinetic typography to situate the campus in the surrounding community, highlight each exciting component and modular option, and communicate the many technical features and amenities in an engaging way.
We balanced these animations with cinematic drone footage to give it the look of a professional real estate video and intercut classic two-camera interviews (using the audio as voice-over) to also give it the feel of an explainer video – perfect for its dual audience.
Together, the different visual tactics and variety of footage combine to create a dynamic and dimensional canvas that the viewer can easily project their their company into.
Project Highlights
Video Solution: Explainer video
Production Features: 3D animation, drone footage
Drone footage is a hallmark of real estate videos, so here we used this traditional tool of the format along with branded motion graphic overlays and callouts to unify the look of these shots with the more heavily animated shots typical of the explainer video format.
Using the computer graphics software Blender we were able to create 3D models of the facilities, break a building down into its component pieces, and then animate a tour of these parts using aerial shot framing that mimics the framing of the drone footage for seamless transitions between scenes.
